Achieving Inner Strength
Have you ever accomplished something that you really wanted to
do? That feeling is self-esteem glowing inside of you. Other times, you
try to accomplish something, and it doesn't work for you. When that
happens, you have a choice as to what to do.
You could feel discouraged and just to forget you fall into that same old habit pattern again. Or you may try to encourage yourself and try again. To get yourself to feel good about yourself again, kids with healthy self-esteem may want to try again and see what happens.
What do you need in order to have the inner strength to accomplish what you really want to do:
1. You have to have the power and desire to go for it, regardless of whether you win or lose.
2. Don't put too much credence on winning but more on trying. This will help you build self-esteem for the future.
3. You have to learn to be responsible for your own actions starting right now. That means that you will try to act with integrity and inner drive all the time and throw yourself into activities and things.
4. Don't criticize yourself or be over-judgmental. Always believe in yourself and in your abilities, even if you don't know what the exact outcome of a particular action will be in a particular situation.
5. Through your actions, build self-confidence. This may be an uphill battle as true strength comes from a lot of attempts at being and doing your best. Always believe in yourself, regardless of what others say.
6. True strength comes from your heart. So, develop the strength to keep checking with your heart, and listen to what it says to you. Then apply it to what you do.
7. Develop the power to be yourself. In all your actions, to yourself be true first and foremost. That is what developing inner strength is all about.
8. Check in with your heart to determine what is right for you and really stick to it. Following the crowd has its moments. However, if you always follow what others say, you won't be developing inner strength but diminishing it instead.
Continue to develop your inner strength. Then you can consult your own heart to get solutions to problems. Practising creates the power to deal with whatever problems come to you. Inner strength has ways of proving to you that growing inside first can make growing up outside a lot more fun and authentic.
